Wiiline eSIM Data Plans for Malawi

Wiiline does not provide a truly unlimited data eSIM for Malawi. The plans labelled “Unlimited Data” each offer 2GB of high‑speed data per day and then throttle the connection to 1000 kbps (or 1 Mbps) once the daily limit has been reached, so they are not unlimited in the sense of providing unrestricted high‑speed data.

For travelers who need more data without speed throttling, Wiiline sells fixed data plans for Malawi. For example, the 30‑day 50GB plan provides 50GB of high‑speed data for 30 days, and the 15‑day 45GB plan delivers 45GB before the speed is reduced to 512 kbps after 500 MB. Global plans such as the 80GB plan with a validity of 365 days also give a large amount of high‑speed data for an extended period. These fixed plans can be more cost‑effective for heavy‑data users compared to the “Unlimited Data” options.

Wiiline does not provide Malawi eSIM plans that include a local phone number or SMS capability. Travelers who need a phone number for calls or texts must use other providers that offer such features.

For connectivity, Wiiline’s Malawi eSIMs offer data only. Users can still make voice and text communications through VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage over the data connection. However, some destinations may restrict or block these apps, so it is advisable to confirm that the services a traveler relies on are accessible in Malawi before purchasing a data‑only plan.

Wiiline offers both single‑country and multi‑country data plans for Malawi. In total there are 19 single coverage options and 50 multiple coverage options that include Malawi in their roaming bundle. The plans vary in pricing from about $5.03 to $274.81 and in data caps from 490 MB up to 80 GB. Validity periods range from one day to a full year (365 days). Some plans include optional features such as tethering or reduced speeds.
