Tourist eSIM’s plans that carry the “Unlimited Data” label for South America are not truly unlimited. Each of those plans gives a fixed amount of high‑speed data per day—either 2GB/day or 3GB/day—and once the daily limit is reached the speed drops to a reduced level of 1000kbps or 2000kbps. This means that after the allotted data is used, the connection is throttled, so the plan does not provide unlimited high‑speed data throughout the validity period.

If you need a higher data allowance without throttling, Tourist eSIM offers fixed data plans instead. For example, a 100GB plan that is valid for 31 days costs $67.78 USD, a 100GB plan for 180 days costs $200.79 USD, and an 80GB plan for a whole year costs $170.74 USD. These fixed‑data options let travelers use a larger amount of high‑speed data before any speed reduction occurs.

Tourist eSIM does not offer any South America eSIM plans that include a phone number or SMS capability. Only data‑only plans are available for the region.

Travelers who need voice or text can use VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram and iMessage over the data connection. However, some destinations in South America may block or limit access to certain apps or VoIP services, so users should verify that the apps they rely on are accessible in the specific country before purchasing a plan.
