I bought the 30 days plan esim for Colombia and tried to activate it upon arrival without success. I had to buy another esim from another company which worked right away and for 1 week. After several exchanges, the esim finally was activated. BUT, everytime I needed WIFI to connect to the network and get data. I told them the problem and asked for refund since I never was able to use it. They refused. So you buy an esim to get data but to get data you need wifi to connect to the network.
Worst experience with esim, especially if you need it to move around in cities like Bogota.

Scam alert! Do not use Global eSIM.
My girlfriend and I went to Colombia and we chose Global eSIM. Don’t do that, whatever the price. In Bogota, the biggest city in the country, it wasn’t working 95% of the time. We tried to get explanations from them, but they just don’t care. Worst company ever.

Cartagena works okay, Medellin works very well, but do not buy for Bogota… Customer service is a big mess!!! 6-7 emails just to get useless nonsense that’s already in the help center, and I have to repeat everything and confirm tons of times… In short, 5 days without service in the largest capital city of Colombia — a real joke!!! Definitely don’t buy!!! Now I’m trying to get a refund… already at 5 emails… A scam!

Bought the 7GB eSIM. Really slow and unstable with frequent connection drops. Would not recommend.

Great experience, truly local. Downloaded and was online once I landed. I was in Bogota, Suesca, Cartagena. Always good speed and local number. Thanks!

Bought 2x 7GB eSIMs. It worked on Claro but paid for 7GB and they both stopped working at 5 GB.
Support quickly reactivated one but not the other.
eSIMdb coupon did not work. It looked like it applied but when I paid with Visa card it was the full amount.
Also eSIM provider is Plus in Poland so internet is in Polish and you get annoying EU pop ups on Google and every site.
Local Claro SIM is much cheaper, faster, and no hassles.

I’m facing a very bad experience with GlobaleSIM in Colombia ! Since I was in Bogota, I had a terrible connection and the data wasn’t working… I’m in Cartagena and the speed is very slow, only 3G connection and just for a couple minutes because the connection breaks every time, and took 5 minutes or more to get back connected
I get in contact with the support, I did what they said but at the end, they said that they can do nothing to improve the connection.

Not working and also customer response is very slow. If you need it to work quickly choose another service.

After paying 36€, this esim is not working, technical/customer support does not reply after 24h, they did not provide any phone number for sms/calls & they spam sms messages in thai language…
There are around 100 travel eSIM providers available for use in Colombia and more than 2600 prepaid data plans. This broad range provides travelers with plenty of options so they can easily find a plan that meets their needs.
Yes, several eSIM providers offer unlimited data plans for Colombia. Firsty delivers a free 1‑day plan that is ad‑supported with a strict speed limit of 256 kbps, while Truely provides unlimited data for 1 to 30 days with 3G/4G networks and allows tethering, though speed may be throttled. Yesim also offers unlimited data from 1 to 30 days, supports tethering, but runs on a 3G network with possible throttling. Roamify offers unlimited data for 5 to 30 days on 3G/4G networks, allows tethering, and may also throttle speeds. The price range for these unlimited options spans from a free offering up to approximately $116 USD, giving travelers a spectrum of budget choices depending on the duration and network speed they require. If the speed limitations of these plans do not meet a traveler’s needs, selecting a higher‑tier plan or a provider with guaranteed faster speeds would be advisable.
In Colombia, the primary Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) providing infrastructure for travel eSIMs are:
Claro: A subsidiary of América Móvil, Claro is the largest mobile service provider in Colombia, offering extensive nationwide coverage and a wide range of services.
Movistar: Operated by Telefónica, Movistar is a major player in the Colombian telecommunications market, providing comprehensive mobile services across the country.
Tigo: Part of Millicom International Cellular, Tigo offers mobile services with a significant presence in Colombia, including voice, data, and digital solutions.
WOM: A newer entrant in the Colombian market, WOM provides mobile services and has been expanding its network infrastructure to enhance coverage.
Additionally, Colombia hosts several Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), such as Virgin Mobile and Móvil Éxito. These MVNOs offer mobile services by leasing access from major carriers. However, most travel eSIMs rely on the infrastructure of the primary MNOs rather than MVNOs.
Yes, there are travel eSIM plans that provide a phone number and SMS capability when you travel to Colombia. Providers such as GlobaleSIM and Roamify offer these packages.
Both companies give you a user‑owned number, but the dialing code is foreign: GlobaleSIM’s Colombian plans use the +1 code, which is not a Colombian local number, and Roamify’s 20 GB plan uses the +33 code. Each plan supports inbound voice calls; voice outbound is available on the additional (premium) packages. SMS is supported inbound on all plans, and Roamify’s premium packages also allow outbound SMS. Prices for Colombian‑based options start around $5.50 USD for a 7‑day 1 GB plan and can go up to about $35.00 USD for a 20 GB plan that lasts 30 days.
