Nomad eSIM Data Plans for Africa

Nomad does not provide an unlimited data eSIM plan for Africa. Travelers who need large data allowances can choose from fixed data plans that are valid for 30 days. For example, a 20 GB plan is available for $103.00 USD, a 10 GB plan for $45.00 USD, and a 5 GB plan for $28.00 USD. All of these plans support 5G connectivity, allow tethering, and cover a wide range of African countries such as Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zambia. Fixed data plans can be more cost‑effective for most users, unless a traveler expects to consume data beyond the highest available allowance.

Nomad does not provide an Africa eSIM plan that includes a local phone number or SMS capability. Only data‑only eSIM plans are available for African destinations through Nomad. Travelers who need voice or text functionality can use popular VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage over the data connection, although some destinations may block or restrict access to specific apps or VoIP services. It is advisable to verify that the required applications are accessible in the intended African country before purchasing a plan.

Nomad’s eSIM offerings in Africa are split into two plans. The Regional Africa plan covers Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, Madagascar, Mauritius, Nigeria, Tunisia, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, and Zambia. The Regional Global plan adds coverage for Benin, Botswana, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Liberia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Réunion, Rwanda, Sudan, Senegal, Eswatini (Swaziland), and Mayotte, while also including the countries already listed in the Regional Africa plan.
