Mi eSIM eSIM Data Plans for Costa Rica

Mi eSIM does not provide true unlimited data eSIM plans for Costa Rica. The plans labeled “Unlimited” actually permit 1 GB of high‑speed data per day, after which the speed drops to 500 kbps. Therefore travellers looking for an unlimited data plan will not find such an option from Mi eSIM in this country.

Instead, Mi eSIM offers fixed data plans that deliver larger allowances at one price. For example, a 50 GB plan for 30 days costs $65.93, a 20 GB plan for 30 days costs $30.09, and a 10 GB plan for 30 days costs $18.72. These fixed plans can be more cost‑effective for most users who need a substantial amount of data but are not heavy enough to require truly unlimited coverage.

Mi eSIM does not offer any eSIM plans with a local phone number or SMS capability for Costa Rica. Travelers who need calling or texting will need to rely on data‑only plans combined with VoIP services such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage. Because access to these apps can vary by country, users should confirm that the messaging services they plan to use work in Costa Rica before purchasing a data‑only eSIM.

Mi eSIM offers 14 single‑country plans and 19 multi‑country plans that cover Costa Rica. The available options span prices from roughly $4.50 to $171.18 and data caps ranging from 1 GB to 50 GB. Some of the plans provide a fixed amount of data for the full validity period, while others let you allocate a daily data cap; a few allow tethering even though the speed may be modestly reduced.
