Tourist eSIM eSIM Data Plans for Costa Rica

Tourist eSIM does not provide a truly unlimited data eSIM for Costa Rica. The plans that carry “Unlimited” in their name are fixed data plans that reset each day and throttle speed once the daily allowance is used. For example, the Costa Rica • Unlimited Data • 1 Day plan gives 2 GB of high‑speed data per day and reduces speed to 2000 kbps after the allowance is reached, while the Latin America (17 + countries) • Unlimited Data • 5 Days plan offers 3 GB per day and throttles to 1000 kbps afterward. These fixed data plans can be more cost‑effective for most travelers unless an extremely heavy data user requires continuous high‑speed access.

Tourist eSIM does not offer eSIM plans that include a phone number or SMS capability for Costa Rica. Only data‑only eSIM plans are available from this provider for that destination.

Travelers can still use VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and iMessage over the data connection to make calls and send messages. Some destinations may restrict access to these services, so it is advisable to check that the apps you rely on work in Costa Rica before purchasing a plan.

Tourist eSIM is listed among the providers in the dataset with a total of 13 single‑country plans and 100 multi‑country plans available worldwide. The dataset does not separate these figures by destination, so it does not specify how many of those plans are specifically valid for Costa Rica. In general, plans range from about $3.68 to $426.78 and offer data caps from 1 GB to 100 GB, with validity periods spanning 1 to 365 days.
