Great value and good enough reception for a 10day trip from Christchurch to Lake Tekapo to Queenstown.

It's trash. The bandwidth is undoubtedly restricted to below 100kbps, making it completely unusable. Do not sign up for it under any circumstances.

I'm was in Auckland for five days, got a eSIM from Yesim for 3gb for seven days. Simple process and it worked flawlessly when I landed. Internet breakout is in Poland though, so there's a little latency, not a big issue but might be annoying for video calls.
Don't recommend their app though, it immediately began sending push notification spam every few hours. The website works fine for keeping track of usage though.

Not good. Installed the eSIM and everything looked as though it should work. Settings were correct! But although I had full network coverage according to my phone nothing would load and i wasn’t connected to the internet!? And the GoMoWorld app kept telling me that I hadn’t downloaded the eSIM? I tried all the troubleshooting and nothing worked!
New Zealand offers more than 120 travel eSIM brands and over 5, 200 prepaid data plans, giving travelers a wide variety of options to choose from.
Firsty offers an unlimited plan that runs for a single day at no cost, but the connection is ad‑driven and speeds are capped at 256 kbps; the plan is only available for one day. Roamify, Billion Connect, Yoho Mobile, Truely, abesteSIM, Yesim, FairPlay, and Airhub all provide unlimited data packages that can be purchased for anywhere from one to thirty days. Most of these plans allow tethering and note that the speed may be throttled or restricted to a maximum of 5 Mbps in certain cases, especially on 5G or LTE networks. Prices for these unlimited options range from about three dollars up to just over fifty dollars, so travelers can choose a plan that fits their budget while still receiving unlimited data on New Zealand’s 4G or 5G networks.
In New Zealand, three primary Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) provide extensive coverage and services:
Spark: Established in 1987 (formerly known as Telecom), Spark offers nationwide 4G and expanding 5G services, covering approximately 98% of the country.
One NZ: Previously known as Vodafone, One NZ provides 4G and 5G services, reaching 99% of areas where New Zealanders live and work.
2degrees: Launched in 2009, 2degrees offers 4G and expanding 5G services, covering 98.5% of the places New Zealanders live and work.
In addition to these MNOs, New Zealand has several Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) that lease network access from the major carriers to offer their own mobile services. Examples include Warehouse Mobile (using the 2degrees network) and Kogan Mobile (using the One NZ network). It's important to note that most travel eSIMs rely on the infrastructure of the primary MNOs rather than MVNOs.
Travel eSIM plans that provide a phone number and SMS service in New Zealand are available from GlobaleSIM, Roamify and MoreMins eSIM. GlobaleSIM offers several New Zealand‑targeted packages using the U.S. dialing code +1, with inbound and outbound voice calls and inbound SMS. Roamify supplies New Zealand‑specific eSIMs that use either the French +33 or the British +44 dialing code, and all of their offerings include full inbound/outbound voice and SMS. MoreMins eSIM’s Vodafone Global eSIM uses a +44 UK number and also supports inbound/outbound voice and SMS. In every case the assigned phone number is not a local New Zealand (+64) number; the numbers are foreign to New Zealand but will work for calls and texts while the device is in New Zealand.
Prices for these plans range from a few dollars for a lightweight 1 GB package to around $40 for a 25 GB plan, and validity periods vary from 7 days up to a full year. Travelers interested in a local New Zealand number specifically can look for other providers that supply +64 numbers, but the plans above offer phone number, voice and SMS support for use while in New Zealand.
