Mobile internet worked fine with the dtac network, mostly on 5G in Phuket. But unfortunately, tethering stopped working after two days. Also, the SMS I received after inquiring about my data usage was unclear about how much data I had left. It simply mentioned “max internet speed” without specifying the 50GB limit or my current usage.
I bought similar dtac eSIM products from other providers in my past trips and tethering worked just fine with them.
Bought their Thailand 50GB eSIM. It’s a local eSIM from dtac which provides much better latency compared to roaming eSIMs. Plus, it comes with a local Thai number for SMS which is nice.
The speed varies but mostly satisfactory. Coverage was good too.
Their app doesn’t show data balance for this type of eSIM and I had to dial to check its validity but 50GB was certainly more than enough for my 1-week trip.
Nomad does not provide a truly unlimited data eSIM for Thailand. The plans that carry “Unlimited” in their name actually allow a fixed amount of high‑speed data—2 GB per day for local Thailand plans or 37.5 GB or 75 GB for the Regional APAC plans—after which the speed would be reduced (the reduced speed is not specified in the data).
Nomad offers fixed‑data alternatives that may be more economical for most travelers. For instance, a 10‑day plan with 50 GB costs $9.00 USD, and a 45‑day plan with 50 GB costs $72.00 USD. These fixed‑data plans provide a clear allowance and may suit users who want predictable data usage without the uncertainty of a limited “unlimited” offer.
Nomad does not offer any Thailand eSIM plan that includes a phone number or SMS capability, so all Thailand eSIMs from this provider are data‑only. Travelers can use data connections and VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage to make calls and send messages.
Nomad offers 6 single‑country data plans for Thailand and 37 multi‑country plans that also cover Thailand. The single‑country plans range in price from about $4 to $170 and provide data caps between 1 GB and 75 GB, with validity periods from 5 to 365 days. The multi‑country plans cover the same price and data ranges and likewise allow a choice between daily data cap and fixed‑data‑cap options where a daily cap limits usage each day, whereas a fixed cap allocates a total data amount to be used over the entire validity. Both plan types may also include tethering where specified.
