Easy setup, service is good for the most part, but randomly drop out at times.
Biggest problem to be aware of is that you get a European (Dutch/UK/France) IP address for your US SIM, which means many sites GEO block you. No possibility of ordering food, booking hotels etc. in many cases making the eSIM virtually useless for travel. Maya Mobile support says there is nothing they can do and that the EU IP address is a technical limitation.
Would not recommend.
I used it for a trip to Hawaii in February 2024 (3GB/5 days = 1,100 yen). I purchased the eSIM the day before departure, and I was able to connect to the internet within minutes after activating it at the arrival airport. Tethering should have been possible too.
Unlike GIGAGO, which I used during a trip to Taiwan and required the deletion of my usual profile in Japan and reconfiguration upon returning, Maya Mobile didn't need the deletion of any existing profiles. All I had to do was switch the mobile data to Maya in the device's settings screen. For reference, I used it with an iPad mini 6.
My usage was primarily for messaging with friends, LINE calls, internet and map searches, and I didn't use social media, so I only used about 1.5GB over 5 days.
I moved around from the airport to Waikiki to the Diamond Head area, and I didn't experience any connectivity issues—it was stress-free!
Being able to connect to the internet within minutes of activation at the airport, check my data usage on the dedicated website, receive an email notification when I had used half my data, and the option to purchase additional data if needed, made it very convenient. Highly recommended.
Satisfied with the service and quick activation.
During my stay in the USA, I experienced frustration and felt cheated by a company that did not activate the service I had already paid for. Then I tried Maya Mobile, and their activation was done within minutes. They also notified me when I had used 70% of the purchased plan. In short, I am very satisfied with the service provided and their efficiency in getting me connected.
Conclusion: Good service that I hope to hire for each of my trips to the USA.
Maya Mobile does not provide a truly unlimited data eSIM for the United States of America. All plans labeled as “Unlimited” in the catalog have daily caps of 3 GB/day or 5 GB/day, meaning high‑speed data will be throttled after that daily limit is reached. For travelers who need a larger, flat amount of data, Maya Mobile offers fixed data plans, such as the 100GB option that is available for 5 to 60 days. Choosing a fixed data plan can be more cost‑effective for users who consume large amounts of data but do not require continuous high‑speed access without limits.
Maya Mobile does not provide eSIM plans for the United States of America that include a phone number or SMS capability. Only data‑only eSIMs are available from Maya Mobile for travel to the United States of America. Travelers who need voice or messaging can use popular VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and iMessage, which operate over the data connection without requiring a local phone number.
Maya Mobile provides 60 single‑country data plans and 54 multi‑country plans for the United States. Prices span from $2.99 to $499.99 and data caps range from 1 GB to 100 GB. Plans include a mix of daily data caps and fixed data amounts, with 28 options that reset each day and 86 that offer a stable data allotment throughout the validity period. Many of the plans allow tethering to other devices.
