Airalo does not provide truly unlimited data plans for China. The plans that carry “Unlimited” in their name actually limit users to 3 GB per day; once that quota is reached, the connection speed is reduced to 1000 kbps. For travelers who expect to use more data, Airalo offers fixed‑data options such as a 100 GB plan valid for 180 days and 50 GB and 20 GB plans valid for 30 days. Choosing a fixed‑data plan can be more cost‑effective, especially for heavy data users, because it avoids the speed reduction that occurs after the daily limit is hit.

Airalo does not offer a China eSIM that includes a phone number or SMS capability. Only data‑only eSIM plans are available for China. Travelers wishing to make calls or send texts can instead use popular VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and iMessage over the data connection.
