Lumbus eSIM Data Plans for Costa Rica

Lumbus does not provide a true unlimited data eSIM for Costa Rica. The plans that carry the word “Unlimited” in their names actually give a fixed allowance of 3GB per day, after which speed is reduced to 1000 kbps.
If you need a larger unmetered data amount, Lumbus offers fixed data plans such as the Costa Rica 20GB 30Days plan for about $65.99 USD, which supplies 20 GB of high‑speed data valid for 30 days, or the South America 20GB 30Days plan for roughly $118.99 USD, which likewise provides 20 GB for 30 days. These fixed‑data options can be more cost‑effective unless you are a very heavy data user.

Lumbus does not provide eSIM plans that include a local phone number or SMS capability for Costa Rica. Travelers can only purchase data‑only eSIMs from Lumbus in the country. For voice and messaging, users can rely on VoIP apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage over the data connection. However, some destinations may block or restrict certain apps, so it is advisable to check that the services needed are accessible in Costa Rica before making a purchase.

Lumbus offers 10 single‑country plans and 22 multi‑country plans for Costa Rica. The available plans range in price from $3.99 to $603.99, with data caps between 1 GB and 20 GB and validity periods from 1 to 365 days. Some plans provide a fixed data amount, while others use a daily data cap. Many of the plans allow tethering, and reduced speed options of 512 kbps and 1000 kbps are also available.
