nextSIM eSIM Data Plans for Costa Rica

No. nextSIM’s plans that carry the word “Unlimited” for Costa Rica actually have a hard data cap of 1 GB or 2 GB per day and a reduced speed of 512 kbps or 2000 kbps once that limit is reached, so they are not truly unlimited.

If you need a larger, unrestricted data allowance, nextSIM offers fixed data plans such as the 50 GB 30 days plan for $43.40 or the 100 GB 30 days plan for $76.38. These plans provide high‑speed data for the full duration without the speed throttling that applies to the “Unlimited” options.

No, nextSIM does not provide an eSIM plan with a phone number or SMS for travelers visiting Costa Rica. The provider offers only data‑only plans for that destination. Travelers who need voice or text can use popular VoIP apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram or iMessage over the data connection, but they should verify that these services are accessible in Costa Rica before purchasing, as some destinations may block or restrict particular apps or VoIP services.

NextSIM lists 52 single‑country data plans and 63 multi‑country data plans that cover Costa Rica. The available plans span a price range from about $2.70 to $1, 275.30 and offer data caps between 1 GB and 100 GB. Some of the plans are fixed‑data packages that deliver a set amount of data for the validity period, while others are daily‑cap plans that reset the data allowance every day.
