Had absolutely no issues, purchased an extra eSIM which we never needed and support was helpful enough for refund, thumbs up from me!
Do not buy the Clearance esim. It's not mentioned on the website, but it's routed through Hong Kong. The connection is very bad and 5G seems capped at slow speeds. I had issues keeping a consistent connection and ended up buying a MobiMatter esim that has worked flawlessly.
EscapeSIM offers unlimited data eSIM plans for Japan with validity periods ranging from 3 to 31 days and prices that start at $5.32 USD for a 3‑day plan and go up to $74.36 USD for a 31‑day plan. Each plan uses a 5G network and imposes a maximum speed of 10 Mbps (10 000 kbps); speeds may be throttled after heavy usage in accordance with a Fair Usage Policy.
If a user is concerned about potential speed restrictions, it is advisable to contact EscapeSIM to confirm whether the Fair Usage Policy applies to a particular plan and to learn the typical data portion available at normal speed before purchase.
EscapeSIM does not provide Japan eSIMs that include a local phone number or SMS capability. The provider’s Japan plans are data‑only, so travelers cannot make traditional voice calls or receive SMS messages on a local number. However, VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and iMessage can be used over the data connection for communication without the need for a phone number or SMS.
EscapeSIM has 56 single‑country data plans that cover Japan alone, as well as 33 multi‑country plans that include Japan among several destinations.
Prices range from $2.59 to $165.68, while data caps span from 1 GB up to unlimited. The offerings comprise both fixed‑data packs (where a set amount of data is granted for the validity period) and daily‑cap plans (where a daily data limit is imposed within the overall allowance), giving travelers options for short stays or longer trips.
