Ovosim eSIM Data Plans for Japan

No. Ovosim does not offer a truly unlimited data eSIM for Japan. All of its Japan plans have a fixed data allowance: for example, the Japan Unlimited MAX plan gives 5GB per day for a 5‑day or 15‑day period, and the Japan 50GB plan offers 51GB of data for 30 days. Travelers can choose from these fixed plans or larger data bundles such as the 20GB or 50GB options, which may be more cost‑effective unless they expect very high data usage.

Ovosim does not provide a phone number or SMS capability for its Japan eSIM plans; only data‑only eSIMs are offered. Travelers can use VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and iMessage over the data connection, but some destinations may block or restrict certain apps. It is advisable to verify that the specific VoIP services you rely on are accessible in Japan before purchasing an Ovosim eSIM.

Ovosim provides 40 single‑country plans that can be activated solely in Japan, and 58 multi‑country plans that include Japan in their coverage area. The plans fall into two main categories: fixed data‑cap offers, which grant a set amount of data for the full validity period, and daily‑data‑cap plans, which reset the data allowance each day. Across the catalogue, 74 fixed‑cap plans and 24 daily‑cap plans are available. Prices vary from about US $3.41 to US $113.90, while data caps range from 1 GB up to 51 GB, giving travelers a wide range of options depending on usage needs and travel duration.
