Wiiline eSIM Data Plans for Japan

Wiiline does not provide truly unlimited data plans for Japan. The plans that carry “Unlimited Data” in their name actually give a daily high‑speed allowance of 3GB (or 2GB for a specific 20‑day plan) and then throttle speed to 256kbps (or 1000kbps) after the daily limit is reached. The data continues to be usable, but at the reduced speed.

For travelers who need larger data allowances, Wiiline offers fixed data plans that include a set amount of high‑speed data. Examples are the Asia 21 Countries – 30 Days 100GB plan and the Global 101 Countries – 30 Days 100GB plan, each providing 100GB of high‑speed data for 30 days. These fixed data plans can be more cost‑effective for users who consume a lot of data.

Wiiline does not provide eSIM plans for Japan that include a phone number or SMS capability. The provider offers only data‑only eSIMs for travelers visiting Japan.

Travelers who need voice or messaging can use VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage over the data connection. However, some destinations may block or restrict access to specific apps or VoIP services, so it is advisable to verify that the apps you rely on are available in Japan before purchasing a Wiiline eSIM.

Wiiline offers 11 single‑country data plans that cover Japan and 91 multi‑country plans that include Japan. The plans range in price from about $2.00 to $160.00 and offer data caps between 490 MB and 100 GB, with validity periods from 1 to 365 days. Some plans are fixed‑data packages, while others use a daily data cap. Tethering is allowed on most plans, and reduced‑speed options are available at 512 kbps, 2000 kbps, 256 kbps, and 1000 kbps.
