Wiiline does not provide a true unlimited data eSIM in Japan. All of the plans that carry “Unlimited” in the name actually contain a 5GB per day allowance; once that daily limit is reached the connection speed is throttled to 256 kbps. The network is 4G.

Travelers can instead choose a fixed‑data alternative. For example, Wiiline offers an 80 GB plan valid for 365 days, a 50 GB plan valid for 30 days, and a 30 GB plan also valid for 30 days. These larger data packages allow the user to keep the full 4G speed for the entire validity period, which can be more cost‑effective for high‑usage travelers.

Wiiline does not provide a Japan eSIM that includes a phone number or SMS capability. All of its eSIM plans for Japan are data‑only, so travelers will not be able to send or receive text messages or make voice calls through a local mobile number.

Instead, users can rely on popular VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage, which work over the data connection and allow messaging and voice or video calls without needing a mobile phone number or SMS functionality.

Wiiline provides 15 single‑country data plans for Japan and 14 multi‑country plans that include Japan. The single‑country offerings give customers the flexibility to subscribe only to Japanese coverage, while the multi‑country packages allow coverage across several destinations, Japan being one of them.
