Mi eSIM eSIM Data Plans for Malta

Mi eSIM does not provide a truly unlimited data eSIM for Malta. The plans that carry “Unlimited” in their name give a hard limit of 1 GB per day (or 1 GB total for the 1‑day options) and reduce the speed to 512 kbps once that limit is reached, so the data is capped rather than unlimited.

Travelers who need a larger data allowance can choose fixed data plans instead. For example, Mi eSIM offers a 100 GB eSIM Data plan for 30 days in Malta, as well as a 50 GB plan for the same period. These fixed‑data options provide a substantial amount of high‑speed data and can be more cost‑effective for most users, especially those who do not require an unlimited data volume.

Mi eSIM does not provide Malta eSIM plans that include a phone number or SMS capability. Travelers relying on a local number for calls or text messages will need to use data‑only plans and then turn to VoIP services such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage to communicate. Note that while these apps typically work over a data connection, some destinations may block or restrict certain VoIP services, so travelers should confirm the availability of the apps they intend to use in Malta before purchasing a Mi eSIM plan.

Mi eSIM lists 20 single‑country (Malta‑only) plans and 47 multi‑country plans that include Malta, for a total of 67 options. These plans feature a data range from 1 GB to 100 GB and a price range from about $1.67 to $199.23 USD. Some plans are fixed‑data packages that deliver a set amount of data for the entire validity period, while others provide a daily data cap that allows a specific amount each day of the plan’s duration. The range of validity spans 1 to 180 days, and many plans also offer tethering, with reduced speeds of either 512 kbps or 2000 kbps when the cap is exceeded.
