It's good.
Speeds are 32Mb download and 3Mb upload. Impressive even if not stellar fast. Yes I would recommend Airalo. First attempt using an ESIM in Europe. Far more convenient given the limited option available when we arrived in Venice on route to Austria.
Airalo does not provide a high‑speed unlimited eSIM plan for Austria. The plans that bear the name “Unlimited” give only 3GB of high‑speed data per day; once that limit is reached the speed is throttled to 1000kbps, so the data is not truly unlimited.
If a traveler needs large amounts of data, fixed‑amount eSIMs are available. For example, a 100GB plan is valid for 180 days at $185.00 USD, and there are 50GB plans that last 30 days for $29.00 USD (Galli) or $36.50 USD (Galli+). These fixed‑data plans offer full 5G speed throughout their validity and can be more cost effective for most users.
Airalo sells Austria eSIMs that include a phone number and SMS capabilities. Plans begin at $5.50 for 1GB valid 3 days and extend to $36.50 for 50GB valid 30 days. Each plan provides a local number with dialing code +43, allows both inbound and outbound voice calls, and supports inbound and outbound SMS. Users are encouraged to confirm the specific functionality directly with Airalo before purchase.
Airalo lists 23 single‑country eSIM plans and 38 multi‑country plans that include Austria. Across those offerings the price range falls between about $4 and $185, while the data caps vary from 1 GB up to 100 GB. Some plans are fixed‑data packages that provide a set amount of data for a set period, whereas a few options are daily‑data‑cap plans that limit the amount of data usable each day.
