Doesn't work! Waste of money! I was only able to see if it works after arriving in Japan in March '25, but I never got connected when automatic carrier selection is on. I chatted with the BNESIM support and was told to select KDDI manually. After that I was able to get connected, for no more than 2 mins each time in a series of unsuccessful attempts. I then chatted with the support again. This time they said this case will be escalated to the advanced team and I'd be hearing from them within 24 hrs. Yes, you're right! The never responded to me afterwards! Sadly speaking, this is the second time I run into the same situation with them. I bought another esim in 10 mins from EIOTCLUB and I got continuous, stable connection ever since. So which one is the scam?
BNESIM does not sell an unlimited data eSIM for Japan. The provider offers fixed‑data plans instead. Two of the larger options are the Surf 100GB plans: a 30‑day plan priced at $132.43 USD and a plan with unlimited validity priced at $247.93 USD, both with 5G coverage. Smaller plans, such as 50GB and 20GB, are also available. Choosing a fixed data plan can be more cost‑effective for most travelers unless a very heavy data user is looking for an unlimited package, which BNESIM does not provide.
BNESIM does not provide Japan eSIM plans that include a phone number or SMS capability. All plans available from BNESIM for Japan are data‑only, with no inbound or outbound voice or text services. Because of this, travelers cannot receive or make traditional phone calls or SMS messages through BNESIM’s eSIMs.
Travelers who need voice or messaging while in Japan can use popular VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage, which work over the data connection provided by the eSIM. These apps enable both calls and messages without requiring a local phone number.
BNESIM provides 14 plans that cover only Japan, and additionally 30 plans that include Japan as part of a multi‑country package.
In these plans the data is allocated in different ways: some are fixed‑amount plans that give a set amount of data for the entire validity period, while others use a daily data cap that resets each day.
Overall, the plans available for Japan span a price range of approximately $2.82 to $263.94 and offer data caps from 1 GB up to 100 GB, giving travellers a broad selection to match their usage needs.
