Doesn't work! Waste of money! I was only able to see if it works after arriving in Japan in March '25, but I never got connected when automatic carrier selection is on. I chatted with the BNESIM support and was told to select KDDI manually. After that I was able to get connected, for no more than 2 mins each time in a series of unsuccessful attempts. I then chatted with the support again. This time they said this case will be escalated to the advanced team and I'd be hearing from them within 24 hrs. Yes, you're right! The never responded to me afterwards! Sadly speaking, this is the second time I run into the same situation with them. I bought another esim in 10 mins from EIOTCLUB and I got continuous, stable connection ever since. So which one is the scam?
BNESIM does not offer an unlimited data eSIM plan for Japan. The provider sells fixed‑data packages instead, including a 100GB plan for 30 days priced at $132.43 USD and a 50GB plan with unlimited validity priced at $133.54 USD. Travelers who need a large amount of data may prefer a fixed plan, which can be more cost‑effective unless they are extremely heavy data consumers.
BNESIM does not provide Japan eSIM plans that include a phone number or SMS capability. All plans available from BNESIM for Japan are data‑only, with no inbound or outbound voice or text services. Because of this, travelers cannot receive or make traditional phone calls or SMS messages through BNESIM’s eSIMs.
Travelers who need voice or messaging while in Japan can use popular VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage, which work over the data connection provided by the eSIM. These apps enable both calls and messages without requiring a local phone number.
BNESIM provides 14 single‑country plans that cover just Japan and 30 multi‑country plans that include Japan as part of a broader regional coverage. The plans vary in price from about $2.82 up to $263.94, with data caps ranging from 1 GB to 100 GB. Some of the packages allow tethering.
