Doesn't work! Waste of money! I was only able to see if it works after arriving in Japan in March '25, but I never got connected when automatic carrier selection is on. I chatted with the BNESIM support and was told to select KDDI manually. After that I was able to get connected, for no more than 2 mins each time in a series of unsuccessful attempts. I then chatted with the support again. This time they said this case will be escalated to the advanced team and I'd be hearing from them within 24 hrs. Yes, you're right! The never responded to me afterwards! Sadly speaking, this is the second time I run into the same situation with them. I bought another esim in 10 mins from EIOTCLUB and I got continuous, stable connection ever since. So which one is the scam?
BNESIM does not offer an unlimited data eSIM plan for Japan. All of their plans for Japan provide a fixed data allowance, the largest of which is 20 GB. For example, a 20 GB plan is available for 30 days at $48.70 USD, and a 20 GB plan with unlimited validity is available at $54.71 USD. Choosing a fixed data plan can be more economical for most travelers, unless the user requires extremely high data usage.
BNESIM does not provide a Japan eSIM that includes a phone number or SMS capability. Only data‑only plans are available from the provider for travelers in Japan. Users who need voice or text messaging can use VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage over the data connection, which work without a local phone number.
BNESIM offers a range of plans for travelers visiting Japan, including both single‑country and multi‑country options. In Japan, there are ten single‑country plans available, allowing customers to purchase a dedicated eSIM solely for use within Japan. The provider also offers thirty‑one multi‑country plans that cover Japan along with additional destinations, useful for those who wish to stay connected across multiple regions.
These plans come in various price points, with the lowest priced plan around $2.80 and the most expensive near $260.11. The data allowances vary from as little as 1 GB to up to 20 GB per plan, and validity periods range from no expiry (suitable for longer stays) to 30 days for more short‑term needs. Some plans also permit tethering, enabling users to share a connection with other devices.
