Doesn't work! Waste of money! I was only able to see if it works after arriving in Japan in March '25, but I never got connected when automatic carrier selection is on. I chatted with the BNESIM support and was told to select KDDI manually. After that I was able to get connected, for no more than 2 mins each time in a series of unsuccessful attempts. I then chatted with the support again. This time they said this case will be escalated to the advanced team and I'd be hearing from them within 24 hrs. Yes, you're right! The never responded to me afterwards! Sadly speaking, this is the second time I run into the same situation with them. I bought another esim in 10 mins from EIOTCLUB and I got continuous, stable connection ever since. So which one is the scam?
BNESIM does not provide an unlimited data eSIM for Japan. All of its Japan‑specific plans offer a 20GB data allowance. Two representative options are “Surf 20GB in Japan for 30 days” and “Surf 20GB in Japan”, the latter having unlimited validity while still capped at 20GB. Choosing a fixed‑data plan such as these can be more cost effective unless you are a very heavy data consumer.
BNESIM does not provide Japan eSIM plans that include a phone number or SMS capability. All plans available from BNESIM for Japan are data‑only, with no inbound or outbound voice or text services. Because of this, travelers cannot receive or make traditional phone calls or SMS messages through BNESIM’s eSIMs.
Travelers who need voice or messaging while in Japan can use popular VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage, which work over the data connection provided by the eSIM. These apps enable both calls and messages without requiring a local phone number.
BNESIM features both single‑country and multi‑country data plans that cover Japan.
In the overall catalogue the provider lists 10 single‑coverage plans and 30 multi‑coverage plans. The single‑country plans focus on a single destination (such as Japan) and give a fixed data amount with a set validity, while the multi‑country plans let travelers use the same data allocation across several countries, including Japan, and typically offer a daily data cap or a longer validity period.
Across all plans BNESIM’s pricing ranges from $2.79 to $259.69, and the data caps vary from 1 GB to 20 GB, giving customers a wide selection of price and data options for use in Japan.
