In Hanoi and Da Nang city areas, the connection was slow and occasionally cut off, but I managed to use it somehow. However, around the Naman Retreat Hotel, it was almost unusable. In the end, I had to ask the hotel staff to guide me to a store where I could buy a local SIM card for travelers.
I purchased 10GB for 7 days, but I didn't even use 1GB.
Ubigi's eSIM plans for Vietnam really falls short for several reasons.
1. The connection keeps on dropping randomly. This is unacceptable when you need to call your family using WhatsApp, Viber, or Zalo, and you suddenly disconnect.
2. I was assigned a mainland Chinese IP address with a Singaporean DNS. This is also unacceptable due to privacy concerns and certain sites blacklisting my eSIM.
Eventually, I switched over to a Viettel eSIM from MobiMatter, and it worked flawlessly for the rest of my family trip to Vietnam. Would not recommend Ubigi for Vietnam.
Ubigi does not have an unlimited data eSIM plan for Vietnam. Travelers who need a large amount of data can choose from Ubigi’s fixed data plans, such as the 60GB plan for 30 days at $59.00 USD or the 50GB plan for 30 days at $36.00 USD. These plans may be more cost‑effective unless the traveler requires truly unlimited data.
Ubigi does not provide a Vietnam eSIM plan that includes a local phone number or SMS capability. The available Vietnam plans are data‑only, offering internet access without independent voice or messaging services. Travelers can still use VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage over the data connection for voice and text communication, but there is no built‑in phone number or SMS service provided by Ubigi for Vietnam.
Ubigi offers 7 single‑country plans that include Vietnam and 26 multi‑country plans that cover Vietnam as part of a broader region. The plans vary in data allowance between 500 MB and 60 GB and in price from about $2 to $240, with validity periods ranging from 1 to 365 days.
