Horrible experience. I was never able to activate the eSIM. I kept getting kicked out as the app attempted to register on different networks. I followed dozens of troubleshooting steps with customer service, all without success. I escalated the issue twice, but it was never resolved. I ended up spending four hours of my vacation trying to get it to work.
In the end, I purchased another eSIM from a different provider — it worked like a charm. I even bought another one for use in Panama, which also worked flawlessly and was incredibly easy to activate.
Avoid this service like the plague. It feels like a scam. Even the app looks like an online casino, not a professional eSIM provider.
Horrible experience. Never again. I lost $25 on the Global XL plan, which I never got to use.
It didn't work for me because the app limits usage to specified phone models. I tried to use it on an Infinix Smart 8 and it's not compatible, then on a Samsung A34 and still not compatible. I recommend expanding the list of models with access to eSIM so it can be more widely used
Worked at Varadero airport then in Havana no issues. Be patient Cuba's network isn't the best
Worked at Varadero airport then in Havana no issues. Be patient Cuba's network isn't the best
Overall, it worked well. When I first connected it in Cuba it worked at the airport but not at the hotel; it started working next morning, for the whole duration of my vacation.
Bought an e-sim to use in Cuba but it doesn’t work. After connecring to a wifi to install it i get a message thaf the QR code i received ia not valid. The app also does not seem to work here. Be careful!
They did not deliver the eSIM in time, I asked many time for refund and they never refund. The support is awful, always asking for waiting. They claim to deliver eSIM within 2 hours and I waited all day and left Canada without the service. Had to select an other eSIM supplier.
Keep away from them.
Writing this with review in Nov 2024, using GlobaleSIM on my iPhone. After successfully testing Gigsky I went with the cheapest price/GB. It worked well in the cities I visited: Baracoa, Imías, San Antonio, Guantánamo.
I noticed two differences, which indicate having both eSIMs improved my connectivity:
1. The phone shows 4G (GlobaleSIM) instead of LTE (Gigsky).
2. In one remote area with no GlobaleSIM connection I still had network with Gigsky.
In my case the payment via Paypal got stuck, but I assume this was a one-off. The GlobaleSIM support was super friendly and helpful during the extra week this took.
Writing this review in Nov 2024 using a GigSky esim on my iPhone. It has worked well in Guantánamo, Imías, and right now in Baracoa. After changing my location I often have to enable/disable Flight Mode to get a working internet connection (LTE symbol). This might be a quirk of the cuban cellular network.
I purchased a 30-day plan to give it a try. However, when I followed the connection instructions and scanned the QR code on-site, it showed the message, "This code is invalid." In other words, I couldn't even set up the eSIM to use it. Was I scammed? Since there are no Wi-Fi rental companies that cover Cuba, I finally found this eSIM provider, but I'm extremely disappointed. I don't think I'll ever buy from them again.
Worst eSim we've ever used and we have travelled a lot and used many different eSims around the world. This was a complete waste of money. Even thought we seemed to be connected to LTE most of the time we couldn't actually download anything, send messages, or surf the web at all.
We couldn't even download the mandatory update to the GigSky app because the connection didn't actually work.
Very bad service. I couldn't connect because the data was so slow.
Terrible. Just doesn't work at all. I was arriving very tired and the support kept asking screen shots of my mobile settings , but they failed.
I have installed other Esim before and it's very easy.
At the time of purchase was the cheapest offering at the place.
The app is bare minimum, had issue as it would apparently try to connect to British VI instead, so had the sim working for few mintues and not for few more, constantly switching network, and on and off killed my phone really quick. Support is slow and not that helpful, email only and slow respond
I bought 16G for my vacation in Martinique. As soon as I arrived I activated the eSIM, but it didn't work for a week there. I'm disappointed.
I am a sailor, I travel a lot around the Caribbean islands. The card worked in the US, later in St. Croix (even though it did not support this island). Cards from other operators do not allow connection in unsupported countries. However, Airhub connected and after a while blocked the card. Okay my fault. Being in Jamaica, I bought a second card and the internet didn't work at all. So wasted 2 times $34, I do not recommend.
App seemed a little choppy to me and install was not as streamlined as some other ESIM apps. But, once installed the data worked fairly well and I didn’t have any speed issues.
Download and install to iPhone 13 Pro Max was easy and data was strong, even for a country with basically 1 cellular carrier.
Awful! Very poor network. Contacted support and no resolution during stay in RP.
I wanted an eSIM that I could load before I got to Georgetown, Exuma, The Bahamas, as I needed to use data to connect with a boat captain anchored nearby, and I guessed (correctly) there would be no place to buy local SIMs at the local airport GGT.
I followed all the installation instructions to the letter. One issue is that, on Android at least, you need a second device, or printer, to display the QR code so the actual device can then read it. Crazy, but I think this will be the case for all eSIM vendors who don't take the trouble to publish an actual app.
Anyway, when I landed at the airport - I got strong signal, but no data! I rebooted, scaled back to 3G, and tried all combo of settings, but nothing, nada, zilch data connection.
Luckily I just asked some other sailors I met in a bar to use their handheld VHF radio to connect with my captain, modernity be damned.
When I eventually boarded and connected to the boat's wifi I was able to Whatsapp to KnowRoaming's very efficient customer service, who (eventually) explained that I would need to remove my USA carriers' SIM card from my device ( despite it having no service of any kind in Bahamas), as it was confusing the eSIM. Bingo - data connected! Why they don't include this in their otherwise complete instructions is beyond me.
Service worked well from then on at full speed depending on local towers, which in far flung islands was just 3G, and at distance 2G.
This service failed me in my prime goal of hitting the tarmac with data working, but I'd use it again if I were in the Bahamas again for just a few days. For a longer stay I'd get a local SIM ($16) and local data + mins package $10 -$30.
Currently, eSIMDB lists over 60 travel eSIM brands offering service in the Caribbean, along with over 800 prepaid data plans. With such a large number of options available, travelers should easily be able to find an eSIM that suits their specific data needs and budget for their trip.
Yes, several eSIM providers offer unlimited data plans for Caribbean destinations. Truely offers plans ranging from 2 to 30 days with pricing between $8.98 and $161.86 USD; the plan allows tethering and may experience throttling during peak usage. Yoho Mobile provides unlimited data for 1 to 30 days, with costs from $15.69 to $449.07 USD, allows tethering, and applies a speed limit of 5 Mbps that can be throttled. Yesim offers a single unlimited plan valid for one day at $20.97 USD, also permitting tethering and subject to potential speed throttling. The overall price spectrum for these unlimited options spans from roughly $8.98 to $449.07 USD.
