“Very bad experience (not being able) using it in the Dutch Carribean with iPhone 17. Support reply was good but not able to solve the problem. Also not willing to refund. Never again.”
“Through two weeks of a four week trip it has essentially never worked baring a few moments here and there where it miraculously connected to the Digicel Network. I used it once for about 200mb as a hotspot before that stopped as well. Virtually useless and needed to buy a local SIM, from the same provider (Digicel) which works perfectly. This provider, in the Caribbean at least, should be avoided. Plus the help email responses just kept telling me they could not find any issues and to ensure I have settings correct, so pretty useless in that regard as well as they never actually found a solution.”
“Waste of money, the eSIM was denied connection to Cubacel. Had to buy another eSIM from a different provider for more $$.”
“Horrible experience. I was never able to activate the eSIM. I kept getting kicked out as the app attempted to register on different networks. I followed dozens of troubleshooting steps with customer service, all without success. I escalated the issue twice, but it was never resolved. I ended up spending four hours of my vacation trying to get it to work.
In the end, I purchased another eSIM from a different provider — it worked like a charm. I even bought another one for use in Panama, which also worked flawlessly and was incredibly easy to activate.
Avoid this service like the plague. It feels like a scam. Even the app looks like an online casino, not a professional eSIM provider.
Horrible experience. Never again. I lost $25 on the Global XL plan, which I never got to use.”
“I like the experience, it's very fast.”
“Fine”
“Useless. Did not work. Do not buy. How do I get a refund?”
“Bought an e-sim to use in Cuba but it doesn’t work. After connecring to a wifi to install it i get a message thaf the QR code i received ia not valid. The app also does not seem to work here. Be careful!”
“They did not deliver the eSIM in time, I asked many time for refund and they never refund. The support is awful, always asking for waiting. They claim to deliver eSIM within 2 hours and I waited all day and left Canada without the service. Had to select an other eSIM supplier.
Keep away from them.”
“Writing this with review in Nov 2024, using GlobaleSIM on my iPhone. After successfully testing Gigsky I went with the cheapest price/GB. It worked well in the cities I visited: Baracoa, Imías, San Antonio, Guantánamo.
I noticed two differences, which indicate having both eSIMs improved my connectivity:
1. The phone shows 4G (GlobaleSIM) instead of LTE (Gigsky).
2. In one remote area with no GlobaleSIM connection I still had network with Gigsky.
In my case the payment via Paypal got stuck, but I assume this was a one-off. The GlobaleSIM support was super friendly and helpful during the extra week this took.”
“Writing this review in Nov 2024 using a GigSky esim on my iPhone. It has worked well in Guantánamo, Imías, and right now in Baracoa. After changing my location I often have to enable/disable Flight Mode to get a working internet connection (LTE symbol). This might be a quirk of the cuban cellular network.”
“I purchased a 30-day plan to give it a try. However, when I followed the connection instructions and scanned the QR code on-site, it showed the message, "This code is invalid." In other words, I couldn't even set up the eSIM to use it. Was I scammed? Since there are no Wi-Fi rental companies that cover Cuba, I finally found this eSIM provider, but I'm extremely disappointed. I don't think I'll ever buy from them again.”
“Worst eSim we've ever used and we have travelled a lot and used many different eSims around the world. This was a complete waste of money. Even thought we seemed to be connected to LTE most of the time we couldn't actually download anything, send messages, or surf the web at all.
We couldn't even download the mandatory update to the GigSky app because the connection didn't actually work.”
“By internet”
“At the time of purchase was the cheapest offering at the place.
The app is bare minimum, had issue as it would apparently try to connect to British VI instead, so had the sim working for few mintues and not for few more, constantly switching network, and on and off killed my phone really quick. Support is slow and not that helpful, email only and slow respond”
“No mobile data for Martinique. Is it a scam?”
“I bought 16G for my vacation in Martinique. As soon as I arrived I activated the eSIM, but it didn't work for a week there. I'm disappointed.”
“I am a sailor, I travel a lot around the Caribbean islands. The card worked in the US, later in St. Croix (even though it did not support this island). Cards from other operators do not allow connection in unsupported countries. However, Airhub connected and after a while blocked the card. Okay my fault. Being in Jamaica, I bought a second card and the internet didn't work at all. So wasted 2 times $34, I do not recommend.”
“App seemed a little choppy to me and install was not as streamlined as some other ESIM apps. But, once installed the data worked fairly well and I didn’t have any speed issues.”
“Awful! Very poor network. Contacted support and no resolution during stay in RP. ”
Everything you need to know about using eSIMs in Caribbean
In the Caribbean, there are more than 120 travel eSIM brands and more than 2000 prepaid data plans. With a wide variety of options available, travelers can easily find an eSIM that suits their needs.
Unlimited data eSIMs are available for travel to the Caribbean from a few providers. Roamify, Truely and Yesim all offer unlimited data plans that can last from 1 to 30 days (Yesim’s plans run 1‑15 days). Each of these plans permits tethering, but may come with speed throttling when usage is high. Prices for the unlimited options vary, with the lowest starting around $12 and the highest approaching $195, so travelers can choose a plan that fits their budget while still providing unlimited connectivity.
Yes, travel eSIM plans that offer a local Caribbean phone number and SMS support are available. Providers such as ESIM.DOG, JamboSim, Roamify, GlobaleSIM, and RoameSIM offer plans with dialing code +1, which is the common country code for the Caribbean. These plans include voice calls (inbound and outbound) as well as SMS capability, with some plans allowing inbound and outbound messages while others provide only outbound SMS; all plans come with a local phone number that can be used for time‑zone appropriate contacts. Prices start around $9.11 for a 1 GB data burst lasting 7 days and can go up to $124.60 for larger data bundles and longer validity periods. Validity ranges vary from a single day up to 365 days, giving travelers flexibility to choose a package that matches their stay.
Some offerings in the dataset use foreign dialing codes such as +33, which do not provide a local Caribbean number. Travelers who require a local phone number should thus check that the plan’s dialing code matches +1. If a local number isn’t available, data‑only eSIM options remain an alternative, allowing calls and messaging through VoIP apps over data.
