“This was a very disappointing experience. I purchased an eSIM from StellarSecurity, but it could not be activated, leaving me without service and out of pocket.
What made the situation worse was the customer service. They provided no effective solution and were unwilling to properly resolve the issue or refund my money.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise against purchasing an eSIM from StellarSecurity. They literally steal from you.”
“I hired a 10 day plan with 7 GB. It stopped working after about 12 hours (just when I needed to get an Uber in not the safest place of town) and only 300 MB of consumption. Never received an email with the confirmation of purchase, so I can't even get a refund because I lost my transaction number. Do not buy, it's a scam”
“SCAM. not working, no help from globalesim. BOT chat with globalesim to end your chat session.. Unable to receive refund.
Unable to send email : Your message wasn't delivered to cs@gloabalesim.app because the domain gloabalesim.app couldn't be found.”
“Unfortunately the internet didnt work after 2 days”
“I bought 10Gb for 7 days but was given unlimited for 3 days. For some reason I was switched.
This is bad. This is incorrect marketing and a switch during the checkout process. I will never purchase from your company again.
Data speed was not good either.”
“Payment process went smoothly. No registration is a bliss. However, avoid this carrier if your destination is the Brazilian Northeast coast. After installation, I couldn't get service so activation never happened. After 24h actively speaking to their customer service via telegram, I have yet to receive my refund. The support keeps asking irrelevant questions that had been answered in my initial email.”
“I have used Airalo in about 20 countries and I was quite satisfied mostly. In Mexico though, they are useless unless you stay in the biggest cities. They connect to Movistar network in there and if you plan to travel around, it is absolutely useless with no coverage in most places where other providers have a good signal. ”
“Works, but slow. Seems to only work on the Movistar network.
In Buenos Aires, I got OK 4g service. But everywhere else, including Mar del Plata and around, it degraded to intermittent 3g service, often showing a signal, but unable to send and receive data of any kind. In a country that depends on QR code payments etc., this was a letdown.
Pick a different eSim if you're going to be in Argentina.”
“Horrible experience. Would like to give zero stars. Bought 2 sims for 20 EUR and neither works. Support team made me spend 3+ hours doing manual tweaks to end up saying it's a coverage issue and won't refund me. I've tested 10+ esims in many countries and this is the worst. AVOID at all costs!”
“Waste of money, the eSIM was denied connection to Cubacel. Had to buy another eSIM from a different provider for more $$.”
“If you buy eSIM with option "activate immediately" everything works fine so far.
ATTENTION: There is also an option for future activation for a specific date
-> eSIM activation in Brazil almost impossible, worked after trying for several hours
-> eSIM has been suspended after six days without any reason (just 6 of 20 GB consumed)
-> Support was unresponsive. No answer to several messages
-> Therefore my WhatsApp account has been reported and temporarily blocked!!!
Product: "Brasil LOCAL 20GB/30d"”
“I got the 2GB for 30 days(not sure about the duration of plan) and it was amazing. Honestly all there esim's are very close to the cheepest and the have a cash back wallet where you earn 10% of every purchase which can than be used to pay for future esim's with them. They use the liberty network in Costa Rica BTW and all their esims are routed through Poland but I didn't feel any slow speeds.”
“Horrible experience. I was never able to activate the eSIM. I kept getting kicked out as the app attempted to register on different networks. I followed dozens of troubleshooting steps with customer service, all without success. I escalated the issue twice, but it was never resolved. I ended up spending four hours of my vacation trying to get it to work.
In the end, I purchased another eSIM from a different provider — it worked like a charm. I even bought another one for use in Panama, which also worked flawlessly and was incredibly easy to activate.
Avoid this service like the plague. It feels like a scam. Even the app looks like an online casino, not a professional eSIM provider.
Horrible experience. Never again. I lost $25 on the Global XL plan, which I never got to use.”
“Horrible. The service never worked. SIM never was able to register with a network. I tried troubleshooting for 2 days losing 2 or 3 hours talking with CS, they asked me to do several things nothing worked, they gave another Sim same thing. The CS was slow to respond and powerless, I escalated the ticket and nobody answer. I purchased a Sim from other company and worked great. Never again! Beware is a scam because I lost my $25!”
“Fine”
“Unfortunately Global eSIM is not working 98% of the time. Only 3G and nothing loads.”
“Useless. Did not work. Do not buy. How do I get a refund?”
“Scam alert! Do not use Global eSIM.
My girlfriend and I went to Colombia and we chose Global eSIM. Don’t do that, whatever the price. In Bogota, the biggest city in the country, it wasn’t working 95% of the time. We tried to get explanations from them, but they just don’t care. Worst company ever.”
“Cartagena works okay, Medellin works very well, but do not buy for Bogota… Customer service is a big mess!!! 6-7 emails just to get useless nonsense that’s already in the help center, and I have to repeat everything and confirm tons of times… In short, 5 days without service in the largest capital city of Colombia — a real joke!!! Definitely don’t buy!!! Now I’m trying to get a refund… already at 5 emails… A scam!”
“Zero stars if it were possible. Absolutely terrible. Easy to set up and activate, but the data signal was absolutely the worst. Like dial up 1999. Images would not load. Basic internet use was nearly impossible. Only functional for texting. I don't know what the quality is in other countries, but I would not use Breeze again, obviously. They would have to pay me.”
“Bought an e-sim to use in Cuba but it doesn’t work. After connecring to a wifi to install it i get a message thaf the QR code i received ia not valid. The app also does not seem to work here. Be careful!”
“Writing this with review in Nov 2024, using GlobaleSIM on my iPhone. After successfully testing Gigsky I went with the cheapest price/GB. It worked well in the cities I visited: Baracoa, Imías, San Antonio, Guantánamo.
I noticed two differences, which indicate having both eSIMs improved my connectivity:
1. The phone shows 4G (GlobaleSIM) instead of LTE (Gigsky).
2. In one remote area with no GlobaleSIM connection I still had network with Gigsky.
In my case the payment via Paypal got stuck, but I assume this was a one-off. The GlobaleSIM support was super friendly and helpful during the extra week this took.”
“Supposedly on AT&T network, Worked in CDMX, but not at all on the coast in Oaxaca.”
“I’m facing a very bad experience with GlobaleSIM in Colombia ! Since I was in Bogota, I had a terrible connection and the data wasn’t working… I’m in Cartagena and the speed is very slow, only 3G connection and just for a couple minutes because the connection breaks every time, and took 5 minutes or more to get back connected
I get in contact with the support, I did what they said but at the end, they said that they can do nothing to improve the connection.”
“Writing this review in Nov 2024 using a GigSky esim on my iPhone. It has worked well in Guantánamo, Imías, and right now in Baracoa. After changing my location I often have to enable/disable Flight Mode to get a working internet connection (LTE symbol). This might be a quirk of the cuban cellular network.”
“It’s literally (Mexico) the worst eSIM product I have ever purchased. I have hardly any mobile internet anywhere, even in the capital Mexico City it’s worthless. And if there’s any, it’s so incredibly slow only WhatsApp works. Just a scam, so recommended to spend a bit more and go for a competitor.”
“Signal is weak. Loose LTE. From 3G no internet. Price was 18 dollars for 10 GB.month.”
“I purchased a 30-day plan to give it a try. However, when I followed the connection instructions and scanned the QR code on-site, it showed the message, "This code is invalid." In other words, I couldn't even set up the eSIM to use it. Was I scammed? Since there are no Wi-Fi rental companies that cover Cuba, I finally found this eSIM provider, but I'm extremely disappointed. I don't think I'll ever buy from them again.”
“Worst eSim we've ever used and we have travelled a lot and used many different eSims around the world. This was a complete waste of money. Even thought we seemed to be connected to LTE most of the time we couldn't actually download anything, send messages, or surf the web at all.
We couldn't even download the mandatory update to the GigSky app because the connection didn't actually work.”
“Not working and also customer response is very slow. If you need it to work quickly choose another service. ”
Latin America (LATAM) Travel eSIM FAQ
Everything you need to know about using eSIMs in Latin America (LATAM)
How many travel eSIM brands (providers) are available for use in Latin America (LATAM), and how many prepaid data plans are there?
There are roughly 190 providers available for use in LATAM, with more than 6, 200 prepaid data plans on offer. With such a vast selection, travelers have a wide variety of options to choose from.
Are there any unlimited data eSIM plans available for Latin America (LATAM)?
Yes, several providers offer unlimited‑data eSIM plans for travelers in Latin America. Roamify offers unlimited data for stays of one to thirty days with prices ranging from $5.00 to $95.00 USD; the plan allows tethering but speeds may be throttled. Yesim provides unlimited data for the same duration, priced between $10.10 and $111.05 USD, also permitting tethering and with possible throttling. Earth Esim supplies unlimited data for a shorter period of one to five days, costing $11.99 to $51.99 USD; this plan allows tethering, includes speed throttling, and has a 1 Mbps speed limit. These options cover the full spectrum of duration and price, giving travelers flexibility to choose a plan that fits their travel schedule and data needs.
Can I get a travel eSIM with a phone number and SMS for Latin America (LATAM)?
Yes, several travel eSIM providers sell plans for Latin America that give you a phone number and support SMS. The most affordable options come from GlobaleSIM (1GB for 7 days at $6, 2GB for 10 days at $11), JamboSim (1GB for 7 days at $11.99, 2GB for 15 days at $23.99), ESIM.DOG (variant of 1GB for 7 days at $11.99, 2GB for 15 days at $22.49, up to 20GB for 365 days at $100.49), Roamify (1GB & 2GB plans around $15–$26, 20GB for 365 days at $105), EtravelSIM (20GB for 30 days at $27) and Simbye (20GB for 30 days at $31.99). These plans all provide a phone number that can make and receive calls (or at least send SMS) and the price or validity ranges are roughly $5–$105 and 7–365 days, respectively. The phone numbers are not local Latin‑American numbers; the dialing code is usually +1, which belongs to the United States, or +33, which belongs to France, among a handful of other foreign codes. Because the numbers come from overseas, callers in Latin America may register them, and the SIM itself can receive inbound text and, in most cases, voice calls, though outbound calls may be limited to specific allowances listed in each plan. Travelers who must use a truly local number for text or voice in Latin America should look for a local operator, otherwise they can carry on with VoIP apps, keeping in mind that some services may be restricted in particular destinations.
