See what travelers are saying about their North America eSIM experience. Real feedback from real users to help you pick the best plan for your trip.
“I have used Airalo in about 20 countries and I was quite satisfied mostly. In Mexico though, they are useless unless you stay in the biggest cities. They connect to Movistar network in there and if you plan to travel around, it is absolutely useless with no coverage in most places where other providers have a good signal. ”
“Doesn't work in Canada, tried Rogers Wireless (Blue) and Freedom Mobile Canada (Black) routes.
Fortunately, support is good and will give you a refund.”
“Not bad
”
“First sim worked well and purchased another sim card for my trip”
“They offer a wide range of options in terms of pricing and duration, and they also provide eSIM card for the USA. Now that I’ve used it a few times, I’m extremely happy with the service. Their customer support is slow but they resolved the Issues as soon as possible but good Gob.”
“Great service and inexpensive; you can switch providers by selecting the network option on your phone if one network has poor reception.”
“Throttling, low speed after two GB instead of unlimited data as was promised. Bought another USA esim, speed became 40 times higher. Used both to download steam games.”
“Great experience, connected in New York, Chicago and LA. 5G most of the time. Easy and perfect !”
“after a whole day of waiting, the unlimited data plan finally work in Canada, speed is limited at 5Mbps download. hotspot as shown below is less than 1Mbps”
“The eSIM works for 30 minutes and now it shows no service again. I bought 5days unlimited plan, I have been speaking with Yoho customer service for 3 hours , no refund, no solutions, just let me wait.”
“IP address is poland, I want to have canada local IP address”
“This company sells an esim that claims to work for 100gb for USA but it cuts of after only 12gb. This company is false advertising. This company should not be allowed on esimdb.”
“Fast & cheap esim
Watch out for restricted apps.
Provider app is a bit clunky”
“Great prices, but incredibly slow. At most I can get 0.2mb/s, about 2000x slower than my normal Sim Card.”
“This company is a scammer. They sell misadvertised esims that does not work fully in the advertised countries. It shuts off after a short use. Stay away.”
“They sell a 100gb esim that is supposed to be good for USA but limit it to 12gb and want to charge you more money. Terrible service and becuase it connects through a UK vpn, nothing works in the USA.”
“Update on previous review: They now route the data through a London VPN so that .gov sites and everything else works. Some very picky sites like homedepot still don't work, but I don't think it's possible to avoid with an international sim. Their site updated to Verizon/T-Mobile which is accurate, but they haven't updated this info across all plans. Expect high latency, as data is routed first through Hong Kong then London and data is QCI 9 but other than that I found it to be very reliable over a few months.”
“Worked flawlessly, full speed to the last megabyte. No annoying app required.”
“Fraud! Their eSim does not truly give you the GBs they advertise. Instead they have fine prints that they try to hide. Out of the 40GB I purchased, only 6GB of roaming is included.”
“Turns off and doesn’t work every so often. They’re very difficult to contact. Don’t recommend use a different one.”
“Worked great in USA but data goes through Hong Kong so no ChatGPT or TikTok. I would get 300 mbs when doing Speedtest”
“It works but traffic goes through Hong Kong so you'll get latency and China's censorship (no ChatGPT or TikTok).
Support response was "get a VPN", so totally useless”
“I purchased this eSIM for my trip to the US and was satisfied with the ease of installation and the very affordable price. However, I encountered some issues with data traffic being routed through Hong Kong, causing latency and blocking some services like TikTok and ChatGPT. When I reached out to support, they seemed surprised and went on the defensive, rather than offering a helpful solution. It would have been helpful if this was clearly stated on the website and if support was more knowledgeable and proactive in addressing the issue. Overall, the service was easy to use, but these issues impacted my overall experience.”
“Terrible decision I made purchasing internet from him. Also this guys supports terrorism please be aware”
“Uses Hong Kong IPs, some .gov sites and Amazon cloudfront sites don't work, but TOR works to bypass without a bridge. Only complaint is that it was initially advertised as all three carriers, but they seemed to switch their roaming policies so I only get T-Mobile/Verizon and sometimes Verizon doesn't work. Maybe some carriers are LAC locked, but I would have another eSIM with permanent data to use other carriers in a pinch if you need. They are also a new provider so their rates/policies change quick.”
“Used Yoho twice in the last month for jaunts into the US. Cheap plans that work great for my needs. I am not normally streaming, but downloading music, maps,
research on the fly…
Had an issue with the eSIM not being formed, but relogging in solved it.”
“Only the payment system works, price was debited from my card but then I just get "unknown error manufacturing esim".
Support does not respond.
Seems to be a scammer website, pity that they are listed here.”
“No issues in the US. I bought 7 eSIMs and we activated them without any problems upon arrival. In fact, one person ended up not traveling, so I contacted their customer service, and within 24 hours they replied and refunded me for the unused eSIM. A perfect 10/10.”
“Worked well through 4 Canadian provinces. Tethering worked perfectly too.
SIM seemed to be provided via a Polish network as I often got search results that assumed I was in Poland.”
“Like Ben who gave a review. I tried everything to get this to work. It would show I had signal but would not pass data. I looked it did not auto getting APN settings. I tried many settings and could never get it to allow any data in. So it was a waste of money my wife also lost money on breeze. I did go to a different esim company (Globalesim) that allowed bell and was able to setup an apn that worked fine for that company.”
“Eskimo eSIM- caution!!
After you install the Eskimo travel eSIM, trial or otherwise and decide to deactivate and close your account. The device can no longer be used again should your sell your smart phone or give to someone else. Quote in the Eskimo Support and email: "You will also not be able to create a new account on the same device in the future." Speeds were 50-90MbpsDL/4-9Mbps UL, not too bad.
Basically, your Android or iPhone device is black listed from future installation by a new user or same owner. SOL in either case.
Due to this condition, I generously gave a 1-Star rate for re-installation that was impossible after deletion and deactivation of 1st time use account even if I were to purchase a plan and scan the original QR code. Not a good way to market the product.
🚫 Definitely not recommended for:
• Shared devices
• People trying to test their service first
• Reuse with new accounts for friends/family”
“5G everywhere good price, you can use the chatgpt and others with vpn easy !!”
“The esim would not connect to their partner provider's (Rogers) networks, I spent all day emailing back and forth with breeze customer service trying to get the right apn settings but they were clueless and could only tell me to create an apn and put data.esim into the apn field and nothing else. This did not work. I tried the apn settings that I found on rogers website, but they also did not work.
fyi using a xiaomi 14t which is esim enabled. I followed all of the set up instructions available on Breeze's website.
complete waste of a day.”
“As a UK resident travelling to the US for family visits and tourism, I purchased the 15-day unlimited data plan from iRoamly. To My surprise, it genuinely offered unlimited usage the only minor issue was slight initial connection latency (possibly due to roaming handover). As a heavy user of YT and TT with high data demands, this plan exceeded my expectations. Having visited the US multiple times, this is the first truly reliable unlimited eSIM I've encountered. Highly recommended!!”
“**BE WARNED**
Was about to purchase x3 eSIMs for USA when I saw this.
"Please note that TikTok, ChatGPT, and Gemini are not supported with this eSIM."
It states this for ALL their USA eSIMs.
I looked up Australia & France and there doesn't seem to have the same restrictions. Hong Kong doesn't, however they use CSL which I've used before and they restrict access to Western TikTok
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED”
Everything you need to know about using eSIMs in North America
North America hosts roughly 110 travel eSIM providers and more than 4, 000 prepaid data plans, offering a wide variety of options for travelers to find the plan that best fits their needs.
Several providers offer unlimited‑data eSIM plans that cover North America. The options currently available include Firsty, abesteSIM, Billion Connect, MicroEsim, Roamify, Truely, Yesim, Yoho Mobile and FairPlay. All of these plans are advertised as unlimited, but speed throttling is common; Firsty’s plan supports only 256 kbps and is advertising‑supported, while Yoho Mobile limits maximum speed to 5 Mbps. The plans range from a free 1‑day offer with Firsty to options priced up to roughly $64 USD, with validity periods spanning from 1 day to 30 days and most plans allowing tethering. Travelers should estimate their expected data usage based on streaming, browsing, and other connectivity needs and select a plan that offers a sufficient data allotment and acceptable speed for their activities.
Travel eSIM plans that provide a phone number and SMS capability for North America are available from several independent providers. GlobaleSIM, MicroEsim, Roamify and abesteSIM all offer plans with a dialing code +1, which is the North American numbering plan, and include inbound and outbound voice calls as well as inbound and outbound SMS. The plans vary in data allowance, validity and price, typically ranging from a few gigabytes of data for a week‑long validity at a few dollars, up to unlimited data for several weeks or months at higher price points. These numbers will appear as local North American numbers; they can be used for calls and texts to and from customers within the United States, Canada and Mexico, or to any other country that recognises the +1 code.
